"Lets see what she's got" Captain J. Todd, on the
maiden voyage of the Constellation.

Basic Info

The USS Constellation (NCC-1017-A) is a Federation Constitution-Class Heavy Command Cruiser in active service to Starfleet in the 25th century.

Launched in 2411, the Constellation's design originated from the "Kelvin Timeline". The schematics were downloaded by 25th century engineers during a mission that landed them in this alternate timeline aboard the U.S.S. Yorktown (NCC-1717) in 2260.

In the last few months of 2410, a temporal mission into an alternate timeline landed a Starfleet crew on board the U.S.S. Yorktown (NCC-1717) in the year 2260. The Yorktown had been severely damaged by Klingon raiding parties during an assault on a Delphic Sphere. The 25th century Starfleet crew beamed aboard Yorktown and rendered appropriate assistance to the Yorktown and her crew. While stabilizing the warp core, the Starfleet engineers downloaded the entire computer core including schematics for starships and weapons.

Upon returning to their correct timeline, the schematics for weapons and starships were presented to Starfleet Command for evaluation. A joint operation from the Corps of Engineers, Intelligence, and Research and Development found that this alternate timelines technological levels were on par with 25th century technology, due to a temporal incursion by the Narada in 2233 that destroyed the U.S.S. Kelvin (NCC-0514). This incursion lead to Starfleet swaying away from exploration and heavily focusing on military and tactical advancements.

Starfleet Command decided that to celebrate the end of the Iconian War, and a new era of exploration, that twelve alternate timeline Constitution-class Heavy Command Cruisers were to be commissioned and stand as symbols of the new era coming, and to represent the twelve original Constitution-class Heavy Cruisers that entered active service in the 23rd century. The U.S.S. Constellation (NCC-1017-A) was commissioned with the “A” registry letter, to honor the crew of the original U.S.S. Constellation (NCC-1017) that was destroyed by the Doomsday device in 2267. Construction and command of the Constellation was handed over to Captain Jordan Todd on Stardate 87727.22. She was officially launched from Earth Space Dock on New Years Day, 2411.
